detailing the tracks taken by Alexander Forrest on his
exploration east of Perth to the Hampton Plains and Lake
Lefroy. The expedition then headed south to the Thomas
River east of Esperance and followed the coast across to
the Stirling Range and then trekked in a north-westerly
direction back to York. The map was published for the Journal
of the Royal Geographical Society by J. Murray,
Albemarle Street, London, 1872. |

the last decorative maps of Australia, Indonesia,
Micronesia, New Zealand and Polynesia with original outline
colour and modern enhancement of the decorative border
cartouche. The cartouche shows varying scenes, portraits of
Dumont and Durville and scenes from the islands. This
wonderful map comes from Levaseur’s, ‘Atlas Illustre’.
The plates were engraved by Lemercier and the Atlas were
edited by Pelissier. |
